One evening, I returned home exhausted from a hard day's work, only to find that our parents had prepared a special meal just for me. My siblings were already fast asleep, which made me feel incredibly touched but also saddened. I asked my parents if they could join me, to which they responded, "We never show favoritism among our children, but today you worked especially hard, so enjoy your meal. We can't divide one portion among all the siblings." I ate my food quietly, tears streaming down my face, realizing that this was the first time I had made my parents proud. I felt grateful for their gesture but also sorry for my siblings, and I couldn't help but blame myself for not being able to appreciate them enough.
The next morning, my parents shared the story with my siblings, and I couldn't help but feel embarrassed in front of them.
